Saddleback Medical Group History, Mission and Purpose

Saddleback Medical Group (SMG) was formed in 1996 by combining the successful medical practices of several well-known and established physicians. Our goal is to become known in the community as high-quality physicians who desire to establish a personal relationship with our patients, and take pride in providing a patient friendly environment where high quality care is experienced.

Mission Statement:

"SMG is a high quality, multi-medical specialty group that is primary care based, patient focused, cost effective, and responsive to the needs of the local physician market."

Purpose:

To enhance SMG’s position in the Southern Orange County physician market through expansion of its primary care base, coordination of managed care efforts and consolidation of group operations.

Current Practice:

Saddleback Medical Group began with eight physicians and has grown to include nineteen M.D.’s, plus Doctors of Physical Therapy and one Occupational Therapist. Today our medical practice includes Cardiology, Gastroenterology, Internal Medicine, Dermatology, Infectious Disease, Endocrinology, Physical Therapy, and Weight Management. In addition, for patient convenience, SMG has an integrated Laboratory, Nuclear Medicine Services, X-ray Services, Bone Density Services and a Cardiac ECP Service.
